Plain Language Awards

Celebrate the stories of our clearest business communicators

Judge: Best Plain Language Technical Communicator

Editor, Rural Youth and Adult Literacy Trust, Cambridge, New Zealand

Kathleen has been writing and editing throughout her career with a focus on international business development. She is constantly thinking about better ways to deliver information, whether it’s tailoring a resume, writing a market profile, or mentally rewriting an article she has read. A self-described word nerd, she believes in the importance of clear and succinct messaging that doesn’t require an advanced degree to understand or a map to connect the dots.

She currently volunteers as an editor for Rural Youth and Adult Literacy Trust, a non-profit that provides reading and writing lessons to rural and isolated teenagers and adults. She has training in plain language writing from Write Limited.

Kathleen has a Master’s degree in business from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from Tulane University.
