James Elliott

Journalist at Newsroom and lawyer

For the past few years, we’ve been honoured to have lawyer, journalist, comedian, and commentator James Elliott as the MC for our Awards ceremonies. James has become an integral part of our celebrations.

Among his many commitments, James is a journalist for the independent, New Zealand-based news and current affairs site, Newsroom. He writes a weekly satirical review of the news — Yesterdaze — for Newsroom, and his humour columns have been published in The New Zealand Herald, Herald on Sunday, and Listener. James is also a regular contributor to RNZ’s ‘The Week That Was’ on Nine to Noon and ‘The Panel’.

James has also written for TV3’s ‘7 Days’ programme. He’s a popular after-dinner speaker, MC, hoax presenter, and debater.
