Judges’ comments

This is a great example of a website that is easy to navigate and helps people find what they need quickly and efficiently. The information is chunked in a way that makes it easy to absorb. The design is clear, easy-to-read, and accessible, while still being attractive.

We all agreed that this website is a clear winner. It helps people make an informed decision about vaccinations. Clear, to the point and factual.

We love to see that you have relentlessly focused on achieving your goals. The reader does not feel overwhelmed with content or expensive words. The content gives them exactly what they need to know and how to act on that. Well done!

Media statement

Immunisation rates in Aotearoa have been declining. In an age of misinformation, there was a real need for a website about vaccines that could provide reliable information — as well as support Te Whatu Ora campaigns to help increase vaccination rates.

Our goal for immunise.health.nz is to provide a one-stop-shop for everything you need to know about immunisations given in Aotearoa.

Sometimes health information can be hard to understand and scary, so the challenge was to take clinical information and put it into plain language. We wanted to empower people to make the right decision for them about getting themselves and their whānau vaccinated. Immunisation saves lives. By having effective, plain language information available we could help make a real difference.

Winning this award has been a very proud moment for the team. It acknowledges the hard work we’ve put in advocating for plain language and accessible content across our mahi.
