Summer KiwiSaver Scheme
Transferring Australian superannuation to the Summer KiwiSaver scheme
I thought this was a helpful document that guides users through a complex and unfamiliar process. It gave a great deal of useful information, and I could see a consumer being able to more easily tackle this complex task with the information provided.
This document is professional and factual but also comes across as approachable, which would be a critical factor the organisation’s brand. The layout looks open, easy and is not daunting.
The document has a strong reader focus, and uses plain language principles in expression, structure and design. It takes a complex topic and makes it simple for the reader, and would help them make an informed decision.
I would use this document as an example of effective plain language and information design — particularly in the presentation of complex financial information.
The document is short enough not to overwhelm but at the same time, it seems to provide a lot of information and answer a lot of questions. Good use of bulleted lists and bolding for better readability and easier navigation through the document.
The tone is helpful and professional, but does not sound dumbed down. It works well to demystify what could be a daunting topic for those who are not that financially literate.
We are delighted to be nominated as a finalist for Best Plain English Document — Private Sector.
The Summer KiwiSaver scheme is committed to supporting KiwiSaver members in their investment journey, from enrolment to a well-deserved retirement.
Plain language is an integral part of how we engage with members. Whether it is one-to-one communication with our team, regular newsletters, investor education pieces or content like the Transferring Australian superannuation to the Summer KiwiSaver scheme booklet that has been nominated for this award. We have committed to taking investing — a subject known for its complexity — and breaking it down into accessible information for a wide audience.
We would also like to extend our thanks to the Write Limited team, for their guidance in developing resources which have been accredited with the WriteMark plain language standard.
