Media statement

I’m honoured to be a finalist in the Plain Language Champion — Best Individual or Team category at the 2025 Plain Language Awards.

For me, plain language is about fairness, respect and results. It’s not just a professional priority but a powerful vehicle for inclusion, clarity and impact.

In my submission, I highlighted the work I’ve done this year. This includes:

  • Rewrote complex policies and strategies into clear, inclusive guidance
  • Scaled capability by designing and leading training and a community of practice. Thousands of public servants and professionals are now aware of plain language.
  • Built a movement by influencing senior leaders and aligning with international standards. This has shown that plain language is a strategic advantage for inclusion, trust and better outcomes.

Thank you to the Plain Language Awards organisers and judges for selecting my work among such high-quality entries.

Being named a finalist alongside so many dedicated communicators is a real privilege. It strengthens my commitment to keep proving that plain language makes government and services more understandable, more trusted and more effective.
