Judges’ comments

We are so impressed with this entry! It is so important for councils to be able to communicate clearly with a vast audience of varying reading ability.

The information is professional but friendly. It’s clear, concise, and easy to understand, and gives only the ‘need to know’ information with images.

The structure of the communication is so clear and logical to the reader, allowing them to navigate around the site very easily. The key messages are easy to find, easy to follow, and easy to quickly absorb.

Wellington City Council is positively encouraging people to recycle by making this well-communicated and easily navigated information available.

This entry is an excellent plain language example for other councils to learn from. Well done!

Media release

We’re overjoyed to have won the People’s Choice award for one of our busiest web pages — our rubbish and recycling collections search function.

We aim to make sure that our online customers can access information that is up-to-date and easy to understand, and this award recognises this mahi with the rubbish and recycling collection search function. We’re delighted to know we’re helping our customers with their everyday tasks — and will continue to make improvements across this busy site.
