Judge: Best Plain Language Turnaround

Plain language consultant, trainer, writer, and editor, Toronto, Canada
michellewaitzman.com

Michelle’s mission is to make complicated stuff make sense. As the author of four non-fiction books, she tackled topics like immigration, outdoor recreation, animal science, and psychology. Her client work has included writing and editing materials about law, taxation, venture capital, computer science, mortgages, financial planning, and more. Michelle translates the knowledge of subject-matter experts into clear, helpful content that readers can easily understand.

One of my favourite things to do is give workshops where I show other people how to adopt plain language principles that make it easier and faster for them to write clearly. It’s so rewarding when people realise good writing is a skill they can learn, not a gift they had to be born with.

Michelle lives in Toronto, Canada with her husband and their two rescue dogs (but she spent seven wonderful years living in New Zealand). She runs her own plain language consulting business and works with non-profits, public agencies, publishers, and businesses. She is a board member for PLAIN and a member of the IPLF’s Training and Resources Committee.
