Plain Language Awards

Celebrate the stories of our clearest business communicators

Judge: Best Plain Language Website — Private Sector

Principal Advisor, content and communications, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, Wellington, New Zealand

Lucy started her writing career as a sub-editor at Wellington newspaper The Dominion, culling reporters’ words to fit tight newspaper columns while highlighting the juicy and important bits. That skill extended through to reporting and editing at the BBC and Stuff, working on the COVID-19 government website, and now creating content for small businesses on business.govt.nz.

She’s got a very low tolerance for jargon and waffle after years of cutting through both in untold press releases. She loves a short sentence.
