James is an advocate for plain language, with experience across a wide range of technical and strategic topics.

James has over 15 years of experience consulting on plain language, developing content strategy, creating and critiquing information architecture, and working with designers on user experience (UX) and interaction design. He has an engineering background, and has worked with the European Commission and Parliament, New Zealand corporates, and government agencies. He has also led a global industry consortium, and managed teams working across multiple disciplines.

The EPA is the government agency that regulates activities affecting Aotearoa New Zealand’s environment — protecting the environment and the people who live and work in it, for a better way of life.

James’s team provides content, design and workflow expertise for the EPA website and other information — helping people engage with the EPA with ease and confidence. James also helps the EPA improve its understanding and use of plain language.
