Plain Language Awards

Celebrate the stories of our clearest business communicators

Judge: People’s Choice — Best Plain Language Communication and Worst Brainstrain Communication

Editor | Ētita, Consumer NZ, Wellington, New Zealand

Bronwen is an editor and writer based in Wellington.

She completed the Whitireia Publishing course in 1994. Over the next three decades, she freelanced as an editor/writer for a range of government departments and private organisations, before taking up a permanent role as editor at Consumer NZ. In 2018, she won a Storylines Notable Book award for her non-fiction children’s book Explore! Aotearoa.

Through her work, Bronwen has learnt about cats that paint, the state of our environment, and the best places to go cycling in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Whether writing for children or advocating for consumer rights, I am constantly aware of the need to make information accurate and accessible for the reader — the more urgent the need, the clearer the language should be.
